The culture of Western Xia Dynasty was diverse, though dominated by Dangxiang culture. The murals and painted sculptures, inheriting and developing the artistic achievements of the Tang and Song Dynasties, also mixed Dangxiang, Tibetan and Uighur cultures, enriching the treasure house of Chinese culture. The creation and use of Western Xia Dynasty characters to spread and interpret Buddhism not only followed the developments of the Tang and Song Dynasties, but also developed a unique Western Xia Dynasty culture.
