Located in Dajing Lane at the foot of Wu Hill, Huqingyutang was founded by a famous Qing Dynasty official businessman, named Hu Xueyan. It used to be a shop for selling herbal medications. It is the only one special national museum of traditional Chinese medicine in China, opened to the public in 1991, covering an area of 2,700 square meters.

The building is a court—style pharmacy feature on typical architectural style of the Qing Dynasty, elegant and magnificent. In 1988, it was listed as one of the major national monuments.

The museum includes 5 sections: an exhibition house majors in introducing some famous Chinese doctors, the origin and development of Museum, the exchange activities of Museum with other countries; a workshop of Museum preparation where you can see the whole process of Museum preparing; a health-care clinic; a restaurant of medicated food and a sales department. Anyone who comes here for a visit can find a lot of fun to prepare medicine with hand tools and to taste the unique medicated food etc.
