Bronze “Ren Shou” Mirror with Four Direction Gods (Sui Dynasty)

Unearthed in 1978 from Yongshou County, Shaanxi Province. This mirror has a ball-shaped knob, surrounded by decorations of the four direction gods, mysterious beasts and Taoism immortals such as Dongwanggong (Royal Lord of the East) and Xiwangmu (Royal Lady of the West). Between two of the mirror's rings is an inscription . In addition, the twelve “Sheng Xiao (twelve animals representing the twelve Earthly Branches, used to symbolize the year in which a person is born )”, scarlet bird, xuan wu and flower patterns are on the back of the mirror.
