Unearthed in 1965 from Changlepo at eastern suburb of Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. With a round knob and pattern of silver lotus leaves for decoration around the knob, the total design on the mirror is that four birds are flying with ribbons in their mouths. The moulding technique of the patterns is called “ping tuo” which means that the gold and silver designed pieces were inlaid into the plain embrryo by sticky lacquer while the blank part was filled with lacqure, then polished the surface. After that, the adhesive patterns will be on the same level with the lacqure part. |
