Mountain Bodhisattva Scenic Spot

Mountain Bodhisattva Scenic Spot is located in the southwest part of Changping District.It is a scenic spot focusing on summit and Buddhist culture. In 2002, it was opened to the public.

The scenic spot covers an area of four square kilometers, with a tourist line of 5.8 kilometers. It belongs to the mountain range of Mountain Taihang. The villages at the foot of the mount have a history of 1,000 years, with many sites the of Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are stretching mountains and peaks, towering old trees, scattered rare flowers and grasses, rampant fruit trees, clear springs and fresh air, thus it is reputed as “natural oxygen bar”. More than 100 kinds of wild animals such as spotted deer, hare, roe, badger, squirrel, berghaan, pied magpie, and woodpecker, etc live in the scenic area. While worshipping the Bodhisattva Palace and Guan Di Temple, tourists believing in Buddhism can also see the four great wonders of nature: Natural Grand Stone Buddha, Thousand-meter Reclined Mountain Bodhisattva, Big Character of Buddha, and Natural Stone Buddha Hand. In addition, there are more than 40 scenic spots such as Loving Mother Courtyard, Saint Water Spring, Loyalty and Piety Spring, Thousand-year Locust Tree, Dragon Gate Aspen, Military Strategy Stone, Yinxin Stone, Five-color Rock, Rock of Pagoda Tree Spitting out Stone, Brothers' Post, Stage for Worshipping Buddha, and Bodhisattva Stage, etc. Tourists who love climbing can do some exercises and hold mountain climbing contest here. In different seasons, on can appreciate mountain flowers and beautiful sceneries, dig out seasonal potherbs, as well as pick wild fruits such as acid jujube, hawkthorn, Chinese small apple, walnut seed, persimmon, mountain apricot, and mountain peach, etc. There are root carving exhibition hall and folk custom garden in the scenic spot. 2.68 meters in height, 3.8 meters in width and 1.16 meters in thickness, the “Nine Dragons Playing with a Pearl” carved on camphor wood is the largest root carving in China.
