Mountain Python National Forest Park is situated in the east of Ming Tombs reservoir of Changping district, about 40 kilometers from Beijing, and is the largest national forest park in Beijing. Because the mountain range winds like a huge python, its name therefore came into being.
Python National Forest Park boasts four astonishing landscapes. First, there is a variety of plants in the mountain, totaling 176 kinds, and the forest coverage is as high as 86%. In spring, flowers are everywhere on the mountains, in autumn, the leaves of smoke trees turn red, producing an astonishingly good mountain landscape. Second, there is the largest stone Buddha statue in north China, greeting visitors from near and far. Third, there is the longest mountain ladders in Beijing, totaling 3,666 steps made of stone slabs. Fourth, there is the highest pagoda atop of the mountain in Beijing and the painted long corridor, offering a distant view of Beijing.
The park has over a dozen tourist attractions as the place where Deng Xiaoping planted trees, the cultural stele forest, the python-watching platform and the flower garden. And in the nearby areas, there are also sightseeing orchards and restaurants where visitors can taste fresh fruits and local flavor dishes. In the 1980s, Deng Xiaoping, Wan Li, Hu Yaobang and other first generation state leaders came to this site to plantlacebark pines and Chinese pines, and nowadays, these trees have matured and are flourishing. In the park, the “Green Culture Memorial Pavilion”, 100 Green Cultural Stele Carvings from celebritiesbears inscriptions by top Party and government leaders, Chinese and foreign celebrities and renowned calligraphers. |
