Located in Hancunhe Town in Fangshan District, Beijing and 70 kilometers from the city, Mountain Shangfang National Forest Park is one of the twenty key sample National Forest Parks in China.
As early as in the Eastern Wei Dynasty, monks cultivated the mountain and built temples, roads and had trees planted. After reconstructions and renovations in successive dynasties, a magnificent building complex came into being in the Ming Dynasty. Paintings and poems were made for it and temples and pavilions were built, forming a religious landscape with bridges, pavilions, temples, caves, rocks, peaks and woods. A historical saying goes that Suzhou and Hangzhou in the south, Mountain Shangfang in the north.
Main scenic spots are: nine caves with Yunshui (Cloud and Water) Cave as their representative, seventy-two temples with Doulü Temple as their representative, twelve mountain peaks with Zhaixingtuo as their representative, four Tree Kings with the bodhi tree as their representative, as well as the location of the film Conquering Huashan Mountain, the heavenly ladder, heavenly pit and more. |
