Shenglianshan Holiday Resort is located in Shiajiaying township of Fangshan District in Beijing, about 90 kilometers from downtown. The original name of Shenglianshan scenic area was Shengmishitang, and was one of Beijing's top eight scenic attractions. Atop of the hill, there are several attraction sites, including the well-known Taoist temple built in the 13th year of the Republic of China—the Pantao Palace, the Buddhist temple built during the reign of Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty—the Shengquan Temple, and villas built by Cao Kun, Wu Peifu and Yang Xiaolou during the Republic of China. Spring water from the naturally formed karst cave—the Shengshui Cave—never ceases to gush out all year round. It is said that Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty sent persons here to fetch water for the imperial court use. Half way up the cliff and slope, there is a four-meter-high statue—the Shengmu Statue, which was built in the 14th year of the Republic of China and is still well preserved after some 100 years. Shenglian Mountain is 930 meters above sea level, and is a tourist and sightseeing attraction with both historical and cultural heritages and natural landscapes. |
