Located in the south of the East Railway Station, the water screen at the East Railway Station square is the biggest artificial water fall in Asia so far, as well as the landmark scenic spot on the central axis of Guangzhou New Urban areas, which stands harmoniously with the East Railway Station Green Square and the CITIC Plaza. Covering an area of 11,433 square meters, this water screen was completed in July 2001. Its main building is a glass screen that is 89 meters long and 8 meters high. Along the screen, the 6.8-centimeter-height water flows from a 9-meter-height terrace into a pool, with a capacity for cycling water of 9,000 ton per hour. The upper of the water screen is a large terrace full of water, and the middle a reviewing stand. Before the waterfall is an outside square, that is not only the best place to watch the waterfall, but also to hold a large-scale rally or celebration. Its lower is an indoor square with an area of 3,639 square meters. On either side of the waterfall is a 9-meter-height sculptural stand, on which lay a big sculpture entitled “Love for Guangzhou-a flower city”. When night has fallen, the evening lights are lit, and the colorful waterfall falls straight down into the pool, creating magnificent scenery. In July 2002, it was evaluated as one of the Hot 8 scenic spots of Guangzhou in the new century, know “A dacing Silk in Tianhe District”. |
