Situated in the northeast of the park are two Lingnan-style (South China-style) gardens: Huifang Garden and Lingnan Garden. In terms of layout, their buildings, ancestral temples and gardens are all integrated, while the Lingnan-style gardens have various spaces and elegant styles. The gardens are not just limited to one pattern. There is a whole series of natural, picturesque rural scenes on show.
The climate is also taken into account. Pavilions and kiosks in the gardens provide visitors with shade to protect against the sizzling heat in summer while air passages help cool air fan visitors. In the winter, the garden is protected from northerly winds by walls.
Traditional Chinese artwork like wood engravings, porcelain and embroidery are also incorporated. The structures are a blend of the traditional and the modern, with concrete underpinning the tiled roofs and fiber-optic lighting under the eaves. Wood is used where appropriate, to add warmth and a traditional feel. |
