Lanpu Park

Walk along for about 10 meters there is the poem stone wrote by Zhu De when he visited Lanpu Park: “Only the fragrance orchids are nice, they become precious in Wuyangcheng (Guangzhou)”. He even presented the rare orchids he had planted himself to exhibit in Lanpu Park, and tied a deep relationship with this park.

“National Aroma Tea Art Hall” is very well known. People called Plum, Orchid, Chrysanthemum and Bamboo “Four Man of Honor” in the old days. The aroma of orchid is unique, very faint yet penetrating, so it has the title of “national aroma”“the first Aroma of the world”. The two Chinese Characters “Guo Xiang” (National Aroma) were written by the former vice-chairman Dong Biwu, so this hall was named “National Aroma Hall”.

From National Aroma Hall and walk along, it is Emerge Spring and artificial waterfalls. It has sceneries such as “Small bridge flowing water and cuckoo mountain” and “I doubted there would be no paths as the mountain road ended and water turned, but there came into sight a village in the shadowy willows and bright flowers”. Tourists not only hear the purl sound, but also have a view of the splendid azalea. The green pine, bird twitter will make the tourists in deep mountains and wild nature. The saying goes like “Flower scent, bird twitter, green pines and bamboos of the beautiful scenery in Lanpu Park isolate people from the busy streets”. Through narrow ladders and lanes, past Azalea Mount, the cottage appears in front of a stone bridge, surrounded by green bamboo. The characters for Cottage were written by Mr. Rong Geng, the famous calligrapher and archeologist. The North Gate of Lanpu Park is just past Spring Light Pavilion.

In the west of Lanpu Park, there are sites like Mingjing Pavilion and Fanghua Garden. Mingjing Pavilion was built in the beginning of the Reform, whose stele was written by Lin Xi—then the Vice Mayor to teach the Party cadres to self-discipline. In the large bronze mirror, there is a story about the official career of Xu Jiu and the famous couplet “If the officials do not work for people's benefits, then they'd better retire to be pedlar”.

100 meters from Mingjing Pavilion is exquisite and interesting Fanghua Garden. In the garden, the scenes are centered on water, including a pavilion and a terrace as the major body, with surrounding flowers, trees, streams, bridge and rockworks, which presents a miniature natural scene for tourists. Although the Garden covers only half mu, the unique idea of the designer makes it exquisite and stylistic, which combines the flavor of gardens in South Yangtze—tasteful and flexural, with the style of Lingnan garden—bright and direct.

This garden had once represented China to take part in the 16th International Gardening Exhibition in Munich, West Germany and had won two unusual honors as the great gold medal of German Federal Republic and the gold medal of Federal Gardening Construction Central Association. The Fanghua Garden in front of you if the sample presented in the exhibition.

It is a great pleasure to taste tea in Lanpu Park. The tea art places include Mingjing Pavilion, Xiyin Room, roadside pavilion, Guoxiang Hall, with their unique styles. Stay in Mingjing Pavilion is quiet with a bird view of the scenes in the Park with a breeze now and then. Stay in Xiyin Room is pleasant with tea scent and indistinct purl sound. Stay in roadside pavilion is harmonious, where tourists can take a rest and enjoy the beautiful doom of the pavilion. Stay in Guoxiang Hall is pure with its delicate atmosphere, exquisite furniture and graceful tea set. Tourists can choose one of the places to enjoy the charm of Lanpu Park—the city oasis.
