Nine Skylights Cave is 17 kilometers from Sangzhi County, 70 kilometers from the downtown of Zhangjiajie City and 62 kilometers from Wulingyuan. It is named because of the nine natural skylights in the caves. The cave covers an area of 260,000 square meters. It is so far the biggest limestone cave in China, and three times as big as Lichuan limestone cave.
The air in the cave is very fresh. It is cool in summer and warm in winter in the cave. The cave has three levels and the bottom level is 400 meters below the ground level. 40 natural halls, 3 underground rivers, 12 waterfalls, 5 natural bridges and over 10 caves have so far been found in the cave. In addition, there are numerous numbers of stalactites in the cave.
