The Elephant Bathing Pool, named Chuxi Pavilion originally, was expanded into a Buddhist temple in the Qing Dynasty. It is commonly known that the god of Universal Benevolence gives a bath to his white elephant in the hexagon pool of the temple whenever he passes by. Thus, it is called Elephant Bathing Pool. The temple is 2,070 meters above the sea level with clouds and ancient trees around it. The most picturesque scenery here is Elephant Pool by Moonlight, which is known as one of the ten most magnificent scenes of Mountain Emei. |
