Sitting in the northeast and facing the southwest, Dongpo Building is a two-floor wood building built in Xieshan style. The horizontal tablet “Dongpo Building” was written by Hang Tingjian. The reclining statue of Su Dongpo in the middle of the hall is degage and vivid. On the walls beside the statue there are over 10 carved stone steles, among which the pictures of Dongpo Drawing Plum and Chrysanthemum and Dongpo Liji carved in Daoguang Times are the finest. In front of the building is the Washing-Chinese-ink Pool, and all fish in the pool have black backs, which were reputedly dyed by Chinese ink which was left when Su Dongpo washed his inkstone. |
