Built in 1984 with an area of 600 square meters, the Forest of the Steles is pushed up among underbrush and ancient trees between Duiyue Peak and Zhurong Peak, and it is an important place of interest at Mountain Lingyun. There is a stele at the entrance, on which is carved three characters, “Poem Calligraphy Drawing”, which are written by Deng Xiaoping. The Chinese Characters “Forest of the Steles” and “Chinese Ink Fragrance” are written by Fangyi and Sutong separately. There are 195 sets of stone calligraphy in the steles, and most of them are rubbings from calligraphy carefully stored by the Scenic Spot. Some of them are rare, such as carvings from calligraphies of Su Dongpo, Hang Tingjian, Zhen Banjiao from ancient times and Kang Youwei, Zhaoxi, Guo Moruo, Zhao Puchu, Li Yimang and Guang Shanyue from neoteric and modern times. The epigraphs are in regular script, cursive script, grass style, official script and seal script and are full of lingering cultural charm, which adds to the visitor's interest. |
