Mountain Emei tea was very famous early in the Jin Dynasty. Huayang Guozhi? Shuzhi wrote :“both Nanan and Wuyang produce tea”. Also in the Notes to Wenxuan said :“There are many herbs in Mountain Emei, especially the tea, different from others”. Emei Xueya was very popular early in the Song Dynasty, as Su Dongpo's expression that “I hold the jade bowl with the rare treasure of Emei-Snow Tea in both hands gingerly”. In the Ming Dynasty again it entered a new development period. Before the establishment of the People's Republic of China, Qingguan, a monk in Mountain Emei used fresh tea leaves of Dragon Cave plus the Hangzhou tea-making technique and manufactured aromatic and pure “ E Rui”, popular in the world. The monk Juekong in Wannian Temple created many new kinds. After tasting the tea, Marshal Chen Yi was prodigal of praise and named it as “Zhuyeqing” by its shape as the bamboo. Plus in Mountain Emei there are another two kinds of famous tea, silver needle tea and Kuding tea. The silver needle tea is thin. It shall be vertical while making tea and the faint scent assails the nostrils. The Kuding tea is made of young foliage, whose leaf is small, thin and green. After having it, you will have a sweet taste following bitter one. It has good effects on removal of internal heat and liver fire. |
