Hefei Botanic Garden

Located in Mountain Shushan Scenic Area of the city, Hefei Botanic Garden is a peninsular-shaped area surrounded by Shushan Lake on the north and west.

To the east, the garden is connected with East Huanhu Road and to the south it neighbors Hefei New and High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. With an area of 1,058 mu (roughly about 70.5 hectares), it functions as the natural oxygen bar and the green lung of the city. According to its planning principle, this place will be a comprehensive botanic garden with garden-like appearance and knowledge dissemination function featuring in scientific resources, environmental protection and tourist attraction.
 
Currently there are more than 1,000 plant species here, of which the second and third grade national protected tree species account for 20. The most precious ones are liriodendron chinensis，Saucer Magnolia，eucommia, p.aureosulcata spectabilis and some rare plum, osmanthus and lotus species. Several scenic spots, such as Waterfront Garden, Plants Exhibition Area, Plum Garden, Bamboo Garden, Osmanthus Garden, Autumn View Garden, and a Lakefront Green Corridor called Ludicangzhou, have preliminarily taken shape and opened to public since May 1, 2002.
