Covering an area of 550 hectares, Mountain Shushan Forest Park is based on Mountain Dashu (also called Mountain Shushan). Mountain Dashu, neighboring the Irrigation Channel of Pi River in the south and adjacent to Dongpu Reservoir in the north, is in the shape of an oval with the southeast part higher than the northwest. The perimeter of the mountain is 7.75km, the altitude 284m, the largest gradient 30 degrees and the smallest 5 degrees. The mountain is also characterized by its rough terrain and thick soil.
The zonal vegetation of Mountain Dashu is a mixture of subtropical deciduous forest and indeciduous broadleaf forest. There are evergreen ornamental species such as fir, Chinese red pin,loblolly, bamboo,photinia,dragon juniper,yulan, deodar cedar, and holly; deciduous species such as Sawtooth Oak, Cork Oak, scented rose wood, pistacia chinensis, Chinese scholartree, and sweet gum; bush species such as tricuspid cudrania, common carpemyrtle, spicebush, and cuneata.
The scenic area of the park takes up 427 square kilometers, including a water area of 20 square kilometers. A nursery of 80 square kilometers has been completed and the green coverage here accounts for over 90%.
At the foot of the mountain there are several specially designed scenic spots for Sakura (Japanese Cherry Blossom), China rose, crape myrtle hibiscus, coral hibiscus, Maple and tallow tree. There are also a lakefront scenic area and some lawns. In the north stand such buildings as Anhui Hall of Fame, Conference Center and a teahouse. |
