Introduction of Guangde County

Guangde County is located in the southeast of Anhui Province, also at the intersection point of eight counties (cities) of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces.

With Hangjia Lake to the east, Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou on the north, it has Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Hefei 4 provincial capital cities and 16 major or medium developed cities in its “two and a half hours' economic cycle”. Guangde is the only county in Anhui Province that borders on with Jiangsu and Zhejiang two developed Provinces. As the bridgehead bounding east and west and the economy site combining north and south, it is also the first station where the East China coast economy pushes onward to mid-west areas such as Anhui Province. Guangde gathers Hefei and Hangzhou highways, Hangzhou multiple track railroad, 318 federal highways and 3 provincial roads, so its transportation is convenient and developed. No wonder that it has the fine reputation—“three provinces' thoroughfares”. Surrounding all around are many airports such as Hongqiao in Shanghai, Xiaoshan in Hangzhou, Lukou in Nanjing, Luogang in Hefei, as well as some harbors such as Shanghai, Wuhu, Nanjing, Ningbo. With circulation unimpeded and the economical development condition superior, Guangde has become the inland vice- center of circulation where the long triangle economy develops.

With a history of more than 1,800 years, its ancient name is Tongtun. At the beginning of Jianan period in Eastern Han Dynasty, it was named Guangde County, meaning “the emperor's enormous graciousness and good”. Throughout the history, it successively belonged to Wu, Yue and Chu Kingdoms and has been influenced profoundly on cultural tradition. Guangde is a divine and wonderful place and has celebrities in each period. For example, the peasants' uprising leader Chenzhuang in the Tang Dynasty, famous feudal official Zhang Guangzao in the end of the Qing Dynasty, the renowned geologist and stratum paleontologist Xu Jie. And the first emperor of Ming Dynasty Zhu Yuanzhang once stationed in Cishan Palace in Guangde. Guangde is an immigrant county. Throughout the history, the south of Yellow River culture, the emblem culture and the Wu and Yue kingdoms culture all have gradual multiple influence on Guangde, which forms the local people's magnanimous fine qualities of enthusiasm, straightforwardness and hospitality. At present, there are a number of investors from other places who are devoted to the field of local business and enterprises. No doubt it is closely linked with the cultural tradition.

Guangde is located in the beautiful southern Anhui mountainous area. It is a sub-tropic moist region. Its average annual temperature is 15.4 ℃, the yearly average precipitation 1,328 millimeters, frost-free period nearly 300 days. Therefore, it is the ideal place for leisure and vacation. The national key scenery spot, Taiji Cave, is the biggest natural limestone cave in the East China area. Together with “Qiantang River tide, Dengzhou mirage, Leizhou thunder”, it is called one of the “the world four miracles”. Guangde pit hole often compares favorably with Guilin scenery. Other unique scenery spots are also attracting the tourists all over the world, such as the lofty magnificent Tianshou temple constructed in the year 979 A.D., the plain elegant Drum Watchtower, the well-known ruins where Yue Fei fought against Jin army, the attractive Peach Aunt labyrinth, the ten thousand area of reed and bamboo, and the Hengshan country forest park with rich ancestral hall mountain culture. Guangde government has already established the overall countywide traveling development plan, and is devoting to constructing Guangde into the back garden for traveling and leisure in the long triangle developed area.
