Yellow River Iron Bridge

The Yellow River Iron Bridge, the first iron bridge at the upper reaches of the Yellow River, is acclaimed as the “First Bridge of the Yellow River under Heaven”. It is situated at the foot of Mountain Baita north of Lanzhou City, and serves as a vital ferry crossing of the Silk Road.

The Yellow River Iron Bridge was first established as a pontoon bridge in 1372, the fifth year of Hongwu Period in the Ming Dynasty, which was turned into an iron one in 1907, the 33rd year of Emperor Guangxu's reign of the Qing Dynasty. The bridge, with a handsome structure and majestic appearance, is 250 meters long and eight meters wide, with the carriageway being six meters wide and two sidewalks each being one meter wide. Now it is one of the symbolic architectures in Lanzhou City.
