Mountain Jingzhong, a famous religious mountain full of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, is located in Santunying Town, Qianxi County. Here Buddhism, and Taoism are profound; natural scenery is beautiful; ancient buildings are majestic. The emperors Shunzhi and Kangxi had been to Mountain Jingzhong many times. According to general records of events inscribed on a stone tablet, Emperor Shunzhi decided on a crown prince after he asked about a fortune-teller there. Emperor Kangxi once wrote “Beautiful Mountain and Scenery” and “Famous Mountain Under Heaven”.
Mountain Jingzhong is 610 meters above sea level. It is not famous for its height but its importance. As a well-known religious place east of Beijing, Mountain Jingzhong has Mahavira Hall, Avalokitesvara Hall and Four Generals Hall in Buddhism, Princess Aurora Hall, Jade Emperor Hall and Genuine Prowess Emperor Hall in Taoism, and Three Faithful Temple where three outstanding faithful ministers (Zhuge Liang, Yue Fei and Wen Tianxiang) in Confucianism are worshiped. In addition, here are 20 scenic spots such as South Heavenly Gate, Ghost King Temple, Zhizi Cave and Watching Sea Tower.
Mountain Jingzhong has beautiful and natural scenery, thick pines and deep valleys with mist shrouding the middle or the top of the mountain at one time, and a lot of red clouds appearing at another time. The l,871 steps lead up to the top like a cloudy ladder or a colorful ribbon. Weirdly-Shaped rocks and caves are scattered here and there in mountain valleys. You come here as if you entered a heavenly place. It enjoys the reputation of “Most Famous Mountain East of Beijing”.
While you relish the natural scenery of Mountain Jingzhong, you can understand more about the cultures of Confucianism and Taoism. In addition, you may worship the gods, sip Buddhist tea and have Buddhist food. When you climb up, you may listen to some stories like Emperor Kangxi looking for his father, Princess Aurora occupying the mountain, Lvzu receiving student and a monk meeting an emperor, adding more pleasure to your visit it. |
