Xibaipo is a small village located in Pingshan County, Hebei Province. From May 1948 to March 1949, the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese People's Liberation Army set up their headquarters in this village. It represents a transitional period of historical significance for the Chinese revolution. The command post set up in Xibaipo was the last one in rural area before Chairman Mao and the Party's Central Committee entered Beiping and liberated the whole country. The Xibaipo Memorial Museum was built to commemorate this revered site.
The Xibaipo Memorial Museum covers a total area of 13,400 sq m with a built-up area of 3,344 sq m. The museum was opened to the public on May 26, 1978. It is built along a hillside and divided into two levels, structurally characterized by courtyards and surrounding corridors. The exhibitions inside use the most advanced audio and video technologies and demonstrate the historical significance and far-reaching repercussions of Xibaipo. |
