Xuchang has an agreeable climate of monsoon area in warm temperate zone with plenty of sunshine and rainfall, a long period of non-frost, and clearly demarcated seasons. The annual average temperature stands at 14.7℃ with an annual rainfall of 579mm. The none-frost period lasts 217 days. 75% of the area is plains while the remaining 25% is mountainous. The main rives are the North Ruhe River, Yinghe River, Shuangji River and Qingni River.
