Han Tomb in Persimmon Garden, facing west, is located under the prominent peak of Mountain Lishan and is 500m apart from Mountain Baoan in southeast.
According to textual research, the tomb owner is Gong Wang Liu Mai, the son of Liang Xiaowang Liu Wu. It was discovered in 1986 and excavated in 1991. With 70-meter-long tomb passage and 22-meter-long corridor, the tomb has an antechamber in the main chamber, on the top of which there is a piece of colored pattern fresco with vivid colors and fluent lines as well as the main content of black dragon, white tiger, red sparrow, tortoise, and cloudy obscured haze vein. This piece of fresco has a 630-year longer history than Dunhuang fresco, and for whose perfect preservation and considerable value, experts praise it as “the Dunhuang prior to Dunhuang and the Dunhuang beyond Dunhuang”. |
