Dashi pavilion, which is located in Yong'an Village of Shankou Town 85 kilometers southeast of Hepu County, is also called four-row building. The attic of the pavilion was once used for sacrificing to Guanyin. Hence the name Dashi Pavilion.
It was built at the beginning of Ming Dynasty and was rebuilt once during the year of Daoguang of Qing Dynasty. It's one of the old buildings which is closest to the sea in China.
The whole building is a beautiful and solid entity because of its reasonable and harmonious structure. According to annals, Hepu suffered storm attacks and earthquake from Ming Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, many farmhouses collapsed a couple of kilometers around but only Dashi Pavilion stands intact. The pagoda is of great scientific and artistic research value in architecture. Dashi pagoda is listed as a national key relics protection unit. |
