Natural Reserve of Liujing Devonian Section

The well-known Liujing Devonian Section is the standard Devonian section of China and of the world as well. It lies near Liujing Town, northwest of Hengxian County and about 50 meters away from Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The 3.5-kilometer-long section begins from Xiayi Mountain of northern Liujing Town, passes the railway station in the south and turns southeast to Gubi Village and Nazu Village. A standard stratigraphic section consists of deep water facies and shallow water facies, and Liujing Section is composed of deposits of both facieses, thus playing an important role in scientific research, instruction and international academic exchanges.

In recent years, the reserve has become a good destination for students of geology academies practicing their internship and for common people learning some knowledge of geology. Liujing Section is also an ideal place for doing research on paleontology, stratigraphy, precipitation facies, paleoecology, and other basic subjects of geology.
