First constructed in the Hongwu Period of the Ming Dynasty, Youyiguan Pass is situated in Pingxiang City at the border area between China and Vietnam.
Stretching more than 330 meters, the two sides of the building zigzag downwards to the feet of the two mountains respectively. Due to its spectacular appearance, it is praised as “the second pass on earth”. It is also one of the nine famous passes in China, and has always served as a strategic border defense in the southern frontier of China. In 1885, Feng Zicai, a famous general of the Qing Dynasty, annihilated French invaders with his army right here, achieving the world-famous Zhennanguan Victory. |
