Located at 22 Zhuangzhi Lu, Nanning City, the Yuedong Guild Hall was built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty and so named because the building was funded by the visiting businessmen in Nanning from Guangdong Province. The Guild Hall was a triple compartment architectural complex with separate gates for each compartment, namely the front, the middle and the back, and both sides having passages, wing-rooms and stages. In the reign of Emperor Daoguang, the guild hall was rebuilt, and partly renovated in 1950. But in the late 60s, the middle and back compartments and the wing-rooms were pulled down. Till 1997, Nanning Municipal Government invested to completely renovate the guild hall to its original appearance. |
