Located in Mountain Qiandeng of Guling Town, Mashan County, Nanning City, Lingyang Temple is the biggest grotto-type temple in Guangxi Province. It was initially built during the reign of Emperor Yuanfeng in the Song Dynasty (1078—1085), but in the mid-Qing Dynasty, it was destroyed because of a big fire in Guling. However, it was soon restored. Now the temple is supported by large mahogany columns and bucket arch centers and decorated with figures and flowers of pottery sculpture, wood carvings and stone sculptures. It has become a key religious venue in Nanning and a new destination for tourists. |
