Once a private garden owned by Lu Rongting, a senior official in Qing Dynasty, Mingxiu Park is now one of the three famous parks in Guangxi, covering an area of 28,000 square kilometers. The park is surrounded by water on three sides, like a bottle gourd in shape. Old trees reach high up to the sky, blotting out the sunlight, under which spread small queer rock peaks, ancient pavilions and houses. Some major constructions include Bieyoudongtian Pavilion, Hefengyi Pavilion and the stone armchairs and benches carved from natural rocks. Lu Rongting used to confer military plans in the litchi orchestra, with litchi trees planted at least 100 years ago. |
