Beginning from Chaoyang Flyover in the west and connecting the entrance to Nanbei Expressway in the east, Minzu Boulevard measures 10.5 kilometers in length. On either side of the boulevard are Guangxi's important government, cultural, business and financial institutions. Since the landscaping project was completed in 2002, the planting area has reached 446,000 square meters with 92,000 plants of 150 varieties, covering 56% of the boulevard, hence being extolled as a “forested channel”. At present, it is the most properly functioned road in Nanning. Its heavenly environment featuring a sub-tropical rainforest community reflects the modern city dweller's ecological perspective toward the living environment. Its charm grows when lit up at night.
This sight is situated in the middle section of the boulevard, which includes sites such as Minzu Square, the Great Hall of the People of Guangxi, and Palace of Nationalities of Guangxi, offering a good place for large-scale political, economic and cultural activities and an important site for conducting patriotism education for Nanning residents. Covering a landscaping area of 27,000 square meters, the square is patterned by marble ground, lawns and flower ponds, backed up by a large-scale land music fountain and an enormous colored painting with the portraits of Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin, three Great Men in China. When night falls, the street lamps and the colorful lights illuminate and flash under the sky, accompanied with the sound of music and the spray of the fountain, making a spectacular sight in the capital city. |
