Hai Ping Yi Ethnic Torches Festival

Hai Ping Village located in Yu She is about 20km from the city center, the Torches festival will be held here on lunar June 24 annual grandly.

That day tens of thousands of Yi ethnic of compatriots wear the beautiful costume dresses, and hold activities such as bullfight, fighting sheep, cockfight, horse-racing and dancing...etc. When the sun is set, people fire the cage, hold the torches highly and dance the Da Ti dance, or sit around the fire, drink the water mixed with wine with big bowls, sing the Yi songs for each other all night till dawn. These activities all held around the fire and in the moonlight, Yi ethnic called it as “Expose to the moon”.
