There is a small village called Fenglong adjacent to the bank of Wanquan River. In the village, more than 20 old houses built in the later Qing Dynasty are conserved quite well although witnessed a history of passed hundred years, among which 4 constructed by two brothers with the family name of Lu in 1888 are outstanding. Judged from outside appearance, the almost 200-year old houses are not different from local brick houses. However, when you talk into those houses, a world of difference pops up right before your eyes: Well-carved and exquisite screen is intact; Necessary furniture for a main chamber are equipped completely, such as square table, fauteil and tiny tea table etc.; Even pictures of bird and flower drawn on the lintel are vivid as if pained as yesterday. Every article inside the room is astonishing. |
