Qiqihar Ice & Snow Event is the festival celebration activity, which integrate culture and art, sightseeing & tourisms, physical culture & sports, introducing investment, and fair shopping. Since 1963, it has been held 23 events. It begins from the last ten-day of December each year and ends in the middle ten-day of February next year. The Ice & Snow Event for period of two month has already become the winter ice and snow tourist events that both the Chinese and foreign tourists love deeply.
Ice carving art gradually derived from development and evolution of the ancient Chinese Lantern Festival and Ice Lantern. It makes full use of the northern winter weather and adopts technological processes such as artificially pouring, carving, laying ice, piling up ice and building etc to form man-made ice and snow sights.
It is of unique ice & snow modeling art, which regards ice as a carrier, and integrates gardens, buildings, sculptures, paintings, dance design, literature and music etc. At the same time, it applies modern science and technology of sound, colors, light, electricity and moving etc to create the exquisitely carved and multi-colored art world.
The ice and snow art history of Qiqihar City is long-standing, and an ice-carving technique is highly skillful, and ice sights works are graceful. The themes and conceptions of ice and snow event always have new originalities each year. Every event makes full use of the topographies of Longsha Park, the Labor Lake or other public places, and it sets up several theme scenic spots where there are more than one thousand works with various moldings. Visitors pass through ice caves, ice bridges, ice roads and ice buildings to enjoy the world fairyland made from the lifelike ice sceneries and unpredictable colorful lanterns.
The activities of wedding ceremonies on ice, and ice and snow photography, sleds drawn by dogs and winter swimming etc lend even newer colors. |
