Temple of Martial Shoushan is also called Martial Shoushan's Temple, which is located in Longsha Park. It was built in 1926 to commemorate the famous patriotic martial Shoushan at the end of Qing Dynasty. It's a three-portal style courtyard, which consists of gate, front hall, back hall and eastern and western wing-room, covering 1,650㎡. Shoushan (1860-1900), whose surname was Yuan and courtesy name, is Meifeng. He was a descendant of Minister of War Yuan Chonghuan at the end of Ming Dynasty and he was born in Aihun. Martial Shoushan bravely fought the enemies and had repeatedly made battle achievements in the Sino-Japan Chia-Wu War in 1894. He was appointed as the Border Army Commander stationed in Aihun Town in the 23rd year of Guangxu's Reign (1897). The next year, Czarist Russia invaded Jiangdong Liushisitun, and Shoushan sent soldiers to protect the village. He was promoted to Aihun Deputy Military Governor in the 25th year of Guangxu's Reign and he was appointed to be Shoushan Office Martial of Heilongjiang in the 26 th year of Guangxu's Reign. Czarist Russia attacked China with more than 100,000 soldiers in July the same year, Martial Shoushan summoned up all his encourage and energy to fight back and finally died at his post. The temple is a Provincial-level Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit. Now the temple has been renovated as brand-new, with the former Inscription to Meifeng's Martyrdom recovered to erect inside the temple. |
