Nantai Temple

Two li far away from Fuyan Temple, Nantai Temple is located in the foothill of Mountain Ruiying, for his famous name “original place of law in the world”. It is built in the Tianjian, Liang Dynasty. Originally it is the place for Monk Haiyin for his religious activity. Behind the temple, a large stone as desk is in the left of Nanshan Rock. It is said that Monk Haiyin usually priests in this large stone, so it is called “Nantai”. It now clearly can be seen three Chinese characters “Nantai Shi” with each character more than two feet at the side of the stone. Two lines of small characters are engraved on the stone, in the left side of the stone, it is engraved “Liang tian jian nian jian”, in the right side of the stone, it is engraved “Sha men hai yin”. The temple is a key provincial cultural relic preservation unit.

Nantai Temple is well-known in the world. Buddhists all over the world worship it very much, because it is not only a ancient temple with very long history, but also a famous hierarch-Stone Xiqian Buddhist monk came from that temple in the Five Era, at the end of Tang Dynasty. He was an important person of Qingyuan Sect-one sect of Nanzong Sects.

Nantai Temple is surrounded by green trees, with ancient and luxuriant trees. There is a forest of a stretch of deciduous China firs in front of the temple, named by metasequoia forest. The tree is up to more than 20 meters, up to the sky, with feather-like conifer leafs, setting up shadow whirlingly.
