Guangji Temple

Guangji Monastery is located at the canyon between Zhurong Peak and Zigai Peak. The length of canyon is about 20 Chinese miles; there is the all day long drizzle and fog. On a flat place of the canyon, there is a temple with a certain scale, which is Guangji Temple.

The covering area of Guangji Temple is more than two Chinese acres. There are two entrances of the temple, all of which are built and laid with the black brick, the stone column is made up with the granite, and the building is plain and elegant. Around Guangji temple, three faces are encircled by the high mountain with the great number of erected stone rocks. The ancient vine spreads and grows and the moss covers on the rock. At the back of temple, there is an area of the primitive forest. There are such trees as the maple, the robur, the cedar tree, the pine tree and so on, the branches and leaves are luxuriant, and it is one of the key scenery forest regions in South Mountain. Over thirty meters away from the temple in northwest direction, beside an ever flowing clear mountain stream, there is a floss gleditsia sinensis, it is the rare and precious old tree in the world, which is as high as 12 meters, and the tree body diameter is twenty-four centimeters.

In the surrounding area of Guangji Temple around, it is the famous production area of South Mountain Cloud-Fog Tea, whose name is such called because there are only about sixty sunshiny days in a year in this area while the other days are all gray clouds and white fogs, with an annual volume of rainfall of more than two thousand millimeters. In addition, for the fertile soil and weak wind power, it is quite favorable for the growth of tea. Tea in the Pilu Hole is of the best quality of the Cloud-Fog Tea of Southern Mountain and had been used as tributes as early as Tang Dynasty.
