In August 2000, Mile Chen moved to the states from China with his parents and sister, where they knew they could work hard to provide better lives for themselves and future family members. As an 18-year-old, he knew little English, but got a job packing to-go orders in the kitchen of a restaurant in Arlington, VA. A mere 6 months later, his family opened up their first restaurant there. After a few months, they sold it and decided to make a move up to Boston, MA, where they opened up their second Chinese restaurant..

As the business grew, Chen also started to find other interests as he met the girl who is now his wife, Helen. At that time she lived in northern KY, so when they got married, they re-located there. Here Chen found a job at the most popular fine dining Asian Cuisine, Oriental Wok. He started as a busboy, and then moved up to being a server and bartender. According to Chen, the owner, Mr. Wong, thought him many skills and techniques on running a restaurant effectively and successfully. After a while, Mile and Helen decided it was time to move up to Asheville, NC, where Helen's sister owned three different restaurants. Together, they worked for Helen's sister for about five years.

            As time went by, Chen's family seemed to be getting bigger; his sister, Rita, became married as well as Helen's brother, Jesse. This made Chen realize it was time to for them to branch out on their own from the family business by opening Champa Sushi and Thai, on 437 N. Main Street, in Hendersonville, NC. They renovated an old building space to elegantly hold enough tables for 150 people at a time, not including the party room in the back.           

           Chen and his family would like to welcome everybody to come and enjoy Asian and Sushi Cuisine in a fine upscale atmosphere for affordable prices. This is a family owned restaurant that wants you to feel relaxed when you experience the phenomenal food, gorgeous presentations, and excellent service the minute you walk in the door.
