| | Fengyang Royal Mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty [edit this] | | Located in southwest Fengyang County, the mausoleum is the tomb of the parents of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first Emperor of the Ming Dynasty. Construction on the mausoleum began during the Emperor Hongwu's second year (1369 A.D.), and was finished 14 years later.
Being a magnificent complex, the mausoleum is surrounded by three walls named King town, Brick town, and Earth town. In the towns, there are many buildings including main hall, golden gate, Huangtang Bridge, Dismounting Stele, stone-mans and stone-animals.
There are even hundreds of houses for officials to rest when they held their ancestor cult there. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, a peasant uprising ransacked the mausoleum. They only left 32 pairs of stone carvings, the carved stone tablets without any inscriptions, and the Tombstone of the Great Royal Mausoleum of the Ming Dynasty towering there, which is misshapen or ruptured. JiuShan Cave is a lime stone corrosion cave. Because of many chives growing on the hill, the cave gave the name JiuShan Cave. The cave formed about in the Cambrian, the geology history is five or six hundred million years. According to preliminary textual criticism. Before 1,500 years, the cave was recorded in ShuiJin Zhu, wrote by Li DaoYuan. Before Tang Dynasty, many people entered the cave and left lots of valued handwriting and caves stones. Wang Weizhong, the national hero in the 2th Song Dynasty, has resisted the aggressors there. And the cave was the place for discusses official business and station. Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, the founding father of the Ming Dynasty, has fought there.
Jiushan Cave is 1,472m long, and has six parts: Tiger and Dragon illegally occupying, Picking the star and moon, Sweeping up five famous mountains, Deep and quiet gorge, Clear Stream and Shadow, going boating on the jade green stream. There are thirty spots in it, ancient preach, drill ground, lotus platform, three likeness of fairy maiden, diving platform , etc. The whole cave's topography is complicated, many stone looks like tiger, bell and so on. The specialists consider unanimously that the cave is original in characteristic it is different from the corrosion cave of the Yangtze River and the limestone of Sichuan Province. | Chan-ku Temple [edit this] | | The Chan-ku Temple is located in the south of FengYang County.
The scenic spot has two parts, the hole inner and outer, more than 20 spot spaces.
The Chan-Ku Temple was built in the 1st Han Dynasty(over 2,200 years ago), and the given name was Tao-Hua Temple (Peach Blossom Temple); Later changed name was Hu-Ku Temple (Tiger Cave Temple) in Sui Dynasty; Chan-Ku temple (Cicada Cave Temple) in Tang Dynasty; Su Dongpo, one of the best famous poets in Song Dynasty who traveled here and wrote down a famous poem “joining other Buddhist cave residence”. because of admiration, so fetch intention of the poem and gave today's name Chan-Ku Temple (Buddhist Cave Temple).
The temple is a treasure-house, the stone inscriptions are the best scarce, now it keeps inscription seventeen places, and Tang carves four places, Song carves seven places, Tsing carves four places. The calligraphy style of the carves is respectively different.
