Located in the center of the Mountain Wuyi Scenic Resort, the Tianyou Peak-taoyuan Cave Scenic Zone covers an area of 9.5 square kilometers. Its major scenic attractions are Tianyou Peak, Chadong Cave, Yuhua Peak, Yunwo, Xuehua Spring, Xianyu Pool, Huma Ravine, the Tianyou Taoist Temple, Yilan Terrace, Taoyuan Cave, Gulou Crag, Jinzhuan Pond, Kaiyuan Hall, Bixiao Cave, Beilang Crag, Sanceng Peak, Sanyang Peak, stone inscriptions on Fuhu Crag, Tianyou Ridge, and other natural and man-made landscapes.
Tianyou Peak rises 408.8 meters above sea level. Whenever the sky is clear after a rainfall, the peak would be enveloped in surging clouds and mists, resembling the scene in a fairyland. It is the No.1 scenic spot in Mountain Wuyi. Looking into the distance on Yilan Terrace, the visitor can see mountain peaks floating on a sea of clouds while the Jiuqu Stream winds its way among the mountain peaks.
Taoyuan Cave is tucked way deep in the mountain. The zigzag narrow outer of the ravine where the caves is located is covered with emerald bamboo trees and strewn with rocks. It seems that the hill bends, the stream winds, and the pathway comes to an end. A flight of stone steps, however, leads to the cave. One has to bend one's body when entering the cave. Inside, it is pitch-dark and the cave extends zigzag until it reaches the entrance to Taoyuan Archway. Several dozen steps forward inside the entrance, it becomes bright open, and it seems that one arrives in a retreat away from the world.
