The Crystal Mangke Glacier is located on the northern slope in Laohugou Valley of Mountain Qilian. There are 44 ranges of glaciers. The Crystal Mangke Glacier is one of them. It lasts 10.1km in length, covering an area of 21.9km. It is the nearest one of all glaciers in China to railway, highway and airport and easy for tourists to arrive and climb. The low tip of the glacier is 4,260m above the see level.

After years' effort a simply constructed road is finished, which leads to the foot of the glacier. Looking into distance, there is a landscape picture composed of grassland, snow-capped mountains and streams.

The first level on slope ceiling of four sides was left empty and whitewashed, representing the clear sky with meaning of upright politics. On each side of the ceiling there is a dragon head looking downwards which means domination of all quarters. The Queen Mother sits calmly below the dragon head on the west ceiling.
