| | Ha'erteng International Hunting Ground in Akesai [edit this] | | Ha'erteng International Hunting Ground is located 120km away from the county seat, covering an area of 800km. The land is mainly composed of exposed rocks, grassy marshland, Gobi and mountainous valleys. The elevation of the area is 3000m-5400m. The air-temperature averages below 6 degrees in a year. | Ancient Qiaowan Town [edit this] | | The Ancient Qiaowan Town, little more than a ruin, is situated on right side of Lanzhou——Xinjiang highway, 85km north of the county seat of Anxi, by side of the Sule River. It was built in year 10 of Yongzheng reign (1732) in the Qing Dynasty as a military fortress. In the first year of Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty there was a rebellion of the Hui nationality that people in the town all fled from chaos caused by the war and the town was empty.
The ruined town is 320m from east to west and 122m from south to north. The remained wall is 5—8m. There are still ruins of corner watchtowers and houses. Two ancient diversiform leaved poplar trees are growing south of the town. Tourists may have a break on the way from Dunhuang to Jiayuguan Pass, visiting the ancient town while sampling watermelon. There is also a museum by highway near the ancient town, displayed are specimens of wild animals and plants, dried-up corpse as well as 80 relics. Among them, the reproduced ivory Buddha and the drum mounted with man-skin, the bowl made of man's head and a walking stick with caver patterns of eight gods are particularly attractive. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
