Dripping Shoal is located 6 km west to Huangguoshu Waterfall. It is an over-700-meter-deep valley with two opposing precipitous mountains on its sides, namely, Guansuoling and Dapoding.
Dripping Shoal Waterfall is composed of 3 waterfalls. The uppermost one is called Liantian Waterfall, the middle one Chongkeng Waterfall, and the lowermost Gaotan Waterfall. The Dripping Shoal Waterfall is famous for its height, majesty, beauty and mystery.
Height: The overall height of the waterfall is 316 meters. The Chongkeng Waterfall is 160 meters high and the Gaotan Waterfall is 130 meters high. No matter in terms of the overall height or of height of its branches, it is the highest among the waterfalls in Huangguoshu National Park.
Majesty: The waterfall is very majestic. The uppermost layer has waves that gush to the sky, the middle layers have sprays splattering like snow, and the lowermost layer resounds in the mountains.
Beauty: Viewed from afar, the waterfall is like a celestial lady in white that lifts her dress and runs airily from the high rocks. At times her dress seems to tighten up, setting out her slender waist, and at times her dress spreads out with a certain natural, unrestrained grace.
Mystery: The shape of the waterfall is very interesting. The uppermost layer is a valley path that is only 3.5 meters wide, whereas the lowermost one is as wide as 45 meters. As it is deep in the valley, many parts of it are obstructed from the view by cliffs. Sometimes in and sometimes out of sight, at times audible while kept from the view, the waterfall has a mysterious appeal.
