Mudanjiang City is so named because the Mudanjiang River runs through it. It is located in the southeast part of Heilongjiang, the hinterland of the “golden triangle area” of China, Russia and Korea. It is famous for its tourism resources.
The city sits in a flat land surrounded by hills, which makes it a natural basin. It is close to the sea of Okhotsk, and influenced by ocean climate, it enjoys the fame of “a south China area north of the Great Wall” regardless of its location in the past barren area “Beidahuang”.
