With stele written by Hong Hengsun of Hua Yang (place name)?the Cold and Sweet Attic is the best chosen place for coffee or tea. In the yard, there are hundreds of plum trees?some red and some green. Each year when the spring comes, sweet smell is sent out from the grove off and on?touching your face softly. The sensation and taste are no less than that of Xiangxuehai (a place famous for plum in Guangfu, Suzhou), and some even call it directly as Small Xiangxuehai.

The attic was also named from a poem. The emperor once took it as his imperial palace for short stays in south China in the eight year of Emperor Kangxi Reign in the Qing Dynasty (1616?1911). Later in the tenth year of Emperor Xiangfeng Reign, it was ruined by fire. The existing building today traveler see was built in 1930 by the monk Xuan Leng. Here displays a set of furniture in the Ming Dynasty (1368?1644 ) in high rate workmanship. Standing here and looking over the Shi Shan (Lion Hill), traveler may find the hill like a lion lying on the ground and looking back on Huqiu (Tiger Hill), which is another famous view spot.

The Beam Broken Hall is the second hill entrance gate, a key cultural and historical relic protected by Jiangsu Province government. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty (1206?1367), over 600 years old. Just as its name implies, there is a broken beam. Which one is it? Why is it called Beam Broken Hall? According to the lever principle of mechanics, two logs are used as the girder, which supported by a row of wood brackets, through which gravitation can be decentralized. Also, the girder is supported by Pipa Pendants at both sides and the chessboard grid at four corners of the roof. In this way, wood material can be saved in the construction. No metal fix component but only the dowels and tenons made with wooden or bamboo are used when building this hall, which make it particularly rare and valuable. People call it a Millennium Standing Hall with Broken Beam. Inside the hall, there are four steles on which the history of Huqiu and Yunyan Pagoda are carved. If knocking the steles, traveler may hear a sound of rat-tat, so it is also known as the Sounding Stele.
