Emei City, located in Sichuan Province, is in the southwest edge of Sichuan basin, and is northeast to Chuanxi Plain and southwest to Mountain Liangshan. It covers an area of 1,183 square kilometers and has a population of 416,300 with 12 towns.
With the fertile soil and a favorable climate, the city is a perfect place for rice, wheat, corn, tea, coptis omeiensis, etc. Also, Emei is fairly rich in natural resources, such as coal, iron, copper, granitic stone, phosphorite, limestone, glauber's salt, gypsum, and mineral water, and so it is an important producing area for the metalloid materials and the building materials in southwest China.

Approved by Sichuan provincial government, Emei City has established the Emei Municipal High-tech Development Zone, the Emei Tourist Trial Zone, the Emei Individual-Economy Trail Zone, and the Township-enterprise Industrial Zone. This good investment environment and the favorable policies have attracted 36 joint-venture companies with the investment RMB 995 million yuan and the registered capital RMB 700 million yuan.
Mountain Emei is a state-level scenic attraction and also a Holy Land of Buddhism. It is well known in the world with its marvelous natural scenes, century's old Buddhist culture, and its own unique culture. The mountain covers an area of 154 square kilometers and its highest peak, Myriad Buddhas Summit, is 3,099 meters above sea level.
