| The Pavilion Housing Liangkuan Poem Tablet [edit this] | | The Pavilion Housing Liangkuan Poem Tablet (The Pavilion Housing Sino-Japanese Poem Tablet) was built near the Clear Sound Pavilion in Aug. 1990. A story is told about a Japanese monk, Liang Kuan, who found driftwood with the Chinese characters Xiaqiao of Mountain Emei on its nearby Gongchuan, a beach in Japan. The monk was eager to visit the famous mountain, a Holy Land of Buddhism, for a long time. He was so interested in Xiaqiao of Mountain Emei that he made a lovely poem about the driftwood, which made the long journey.
“A piece of driftwood that makes a long journey to Gongchuan.
I can easily identify the characters on it, since the handwriting is clear and nice!
What, what is Mountain Emei like?
I am so eager to visit it.”
This poem was unexpectedly popular in Japan. Through the generous support of the Sino-Japanese friendship association of Chinese Poetry and Emei municipal government, the pavilion housing Liangkuan Poem Tablet was finally built. | Edit by: Dorothy
| Sunrise [edit this] | | On Golden Summit, the sky before the dawn is amazing. The ground and the sky are in the same dark purple. Then gradually wisps of rosy clouds appear above the horizon indicating the coming of a pleasant day. Under the pink clouds on the royal purple velarium, all of a sudden, a small mauve point comes out and rises slowly, and then little by little it becomes an arc and then a semicircle. The color turns from mauve to jacinth and then golden red. At last the semicircle makes an elegant jump thus the sun appears in the east sky.
Due to the different weather conditions and seasons, the sunrise is varied. On a fine day you can enjoy the whole process of the sunrise. If there is cloudy haze in the east sky, it is already a red sun far above the horizon when you see the sunrise; if the sky is covered with cloud, you can only see the sunglow and clouds sea sometimes.
After the sunrise, millions of sun rays shoot onto the ground. At this time the Mt. Emei is gold in color, from the head to the feet, showing all her glamour to the visitors. | Edit by: Dorothy
| Taizi Terrace [edit this] | | The Taizi Terrace was once dedicated to Chang Luo, son of Emperor Mingshen Zong. Hence the name of Taizi Terrace. Now, it is dedicated to Sakyamuni. In front of the temple, there is a stone close resembling an elephant, which is said to be the image of the elephant of the universal benevolence god. The way to Taizi Terrace is called Qili slope, where there stands a giant stone like a dressing table. When the moonlight spreads itself over the mountain, tourists could easily have a lot of dreams and ideas about this place. This scene has the name “Dressing Table under the Moonlight”. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
| Niuxin Temple [edit this] | | The Niuxin temple, originally known as Yanfu temple or Woyun temple, is located in Niuxin hill. It was used to be the only route to the Clear Sound Pavilion and the Hongchun Terrace, before the Black-dragon-river plank trail was built. Behind it, lies the Medicine Grotto, where Sun Simiao, a well-known ancient doctor, made his famous pills of immortality. The Niuxin temple with its ancient tall pines is an excellent summer resort for visitors from all over the world. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
