Fuhu Temple

  [edit this]

The Fuhu Temple is the first full-scale temple up the mountain way. One can find several similarities to the earlier Nation-dedicating Temple. Its first hall being the Laughing Buddha hall is dedicated to the laughing Buddha with four deva kings on the two sides. Also its second hall is the Hall of Universal Benevolence god, again dedicated to god of Universal Benevolence. The third hall is the Great Hero Hall, which is dedicated to three-bodied Sakyamuni. The second hall and the third hall form a courtyard surrounded by tall trees. Thanks to the natural barrier of mountain & forest as well as the steady light breeze, leafs and dirt can hardly be seen in the temple area. Thus, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty gave the temple the name “Lihou Yuan” referring to a dirt-less garden. Not far away Fuhu temple, tourists can find Luofeng Peak. On clear days, visitors can locate “fine clouds on Luofeng Peak”, one of the top 10 scenes of Mountain Emei.

Clouds Sea

  [edit this]

When the sky is clearly blue, white clouds rise slowly among the mountains. Just in a moment, vast clouds sea appears above the horizon like a snowy white woolen blanket, smooth, clean and thick. Sometimes there are clouds either above the horizon or in the sky, so people stand between two clouds layers, which make you feel like a supernatural being. When wind comes, the clouds sea is wafted to all the directions and then mountains become small islands floating in an ocean; when the clouds sea gathers together, peaks are invisible again; when wind gets strong, the clouds sea sometimes moves at a full gallop like a horse; sometimes makes a welter like a big wave of the sea; sometimes becomes elegant and stretching like a fair lady. The most sublime scene is that once in a while you have the chance to enjoy countless cloud columns in the shape of mushroom. They fly up to the sky, and then sprinkle gradually and then turn into filmy flowing clouds.

Chunyang Hall

  [edit this]

The Chunyang hall was a Taoist Monastery dedicated to Lu Dongbin, one of the eight gods in Taoism. Today, it is a Buddhism temple. Its first hall is named Medicine Hall with a seated Medicine Buddha statue 1.2 meters in height. Around the statue are the Sunlight Buddha and the Moonlight Buddha. The second hall is the Great Hero Hall dedicated to the Sakyamuni with Ananda and Kasyapa on his sides. All these are replicas since the original bronze statues were unfortunately destroyed. Opposite to Sakyamuni are God of Universal Benevolence, Guardian of Earth, God of Wisdom and a Goddess of Mercy.

Clear Sound Pavilion

  [edit this]

The Clear Sound Pavilion is located at the foot of Niuxin hill, to the east of the White Dragon River and to the west of the Black Dragon River. Water from the two rivers surge over into the gorge with force, and converge below in the pool under the Niuxin pavilion. There is a very famous scene named “Clear Sound of Twin Bridges”. In the pavilion, there is the Great Hero Hall dedicated to Sakyamuni with god of Wisdom and god of Universal Benevolence on both sides. With the green mountain background, the slowly flowing streams and the elegant sites around it, the Clear Sound Pavilion is known as a natural garden.
