| | Mahao Fishing Village [edit this] | | The Mahao Fishing Village is located between two mountains: Mountain Lingyun and Mountain Wuyou. It is a building uniquely shaped like an archaic ship. The whole building is of Doumu structure (a traditional Sichuan house structure) with carved figures on the doors and windows. The floor of the building is paved with stone slabs and the roof is covered with black tiles. In the “hull”, the building area is nearly 4,000 square meters, the overall length is 113.8meters and the breadth is 28.8 meters. The spar section, the center of the fishing village, is a bridge opera tower, which is 15.8 meters high. The “ship” rests its head on the Bijin Building, and makes use of its tail end to connect to the Mahao Cliff Tomb Museum. Overlooking it from the mountain and facing the river, it is like a large black awning ship that is anchored among the lush trees and thin and long bamboos. Mahao Fishing Village arranged the downtown streets in the “Ship” to form a queer sight of “The ship is a street and the street is a ship”. It is a good plac where visitors can have a veal, do some shopping, sip and taste tea, and rest. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
| Moon Pavilion [edit this] | | Located south of Yongcui Peak and masterly constructed according to the topography, the Moon pavilion is a set of ancient-model architectural features that are made up of pavilions, corridors and courtyards. The two characters “Moon Pavilion” are on the stele of the entrance, and the couplet on the two sides read as:“The rising moon over Mountain Emei images the Yaoshui River, The blossoming plum in front of the pavilion dreams of the Duanqiao Bridge.”
The right drawing corridor is full of couplets, among which the couplet “Soar as high as ninety thousand miles, surge as far as three thousand miles”, written by a famous artist Li Yujou, is especially striking. On the two sides of the gate to the second courtyard are Kang Youwei's poetry :“Urbanity lies in the universe, extreme enjoyment exists among mountain forests”. There is a cloister to the right and Danya cliff to the left of the second courtyard. Poles, plaques, miniature landscapes and flowers are strewn at random in the courtyard. Leaning upon a balustrade, we see aged pines and green bamboos, which are elegant and idyllic. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
| Lingyun Buddha Temple [edit this] | | Looking up after crossing the Zaijiu pavilion, you see the gate to Lingyun Buddha Temple, which is towering and grand with flying eaves, red walls and jade-green tiles. The couplet on two sides of the gate reads, “To the east the great river runs. From the west the Buddhist doctrine comes”. The couplet is concise and comprehensive, which not only lets people feel the solemn power of Buddha but also indicates the geographic situation of Lingyun Temple. Moreover, the two Chinese characters “Giant Buddha” are contained in it. The couplet shows the uncommon vigor of this one-thousand-year-old temple. | Edit by: Dorothy | |
