Liang Qichao's Former Residence is situated at No. 46 Minzu Road, Hebei District, and was constructed in 1914.
It is a small Italian-style building consisting of two abutting houses, and the main one bears cement external walls with decorated flowers, grotesque red-tile roof, and high stone steps. “Yinbing Room”, a two-story, grayish foreign-style architecture with many flowers and grasses, is used for study. Constructed in 1924, it was designed by an Italian architect Bailuoniao, and Liang Qichao (1873-1929) finished most of his famous writings there. With the literary name of Zhuo Ru, he styled himself master of Yinbing Room. Being one of the leaders of Reform School in modern China, he once launched the Reform in 1898 with his teacher, Kang Youwei. Therefore, he came to be known as “Kang Liang” with his teacher.
